Google Analytics Tracking

With a Google Analytics account, you can track the referral links issued to your brand ambassadors and view the traffic they bring to your website. If you don't have a Google Analytics account, click here to set one up.

Example of BrandChamp Referral Link Tracking in Google Analytics:

To track your ambassador’s referral links in Google Analytics, you must first set up your Referral Link Template in the “Referrals” tab.

In the “Referral Link Template,” you can enter the destination URL for your link (i.e., your store’s URL) and the tracking parameters you want to track.

Note: if you wish to track campaigns in Google Analytics, we recommend setting up at least a utm_campaign and a utm_source; otherwise, using a utm_campaign on its own doesn't appear to track the campaign in Google Analytics reports.

If you’d like, you can also add custom tracking parameters to your ambassador’s referral links by clicking the “Add Parameter” button.

These defined parameters will then be added to the ambassador’s referral link and can be viewed in your Google Analytics account.

For example, if your parameters include:

  • utm_campaign = Custom Value of "bc"
  • utm_source = BrandChamp’s First Name + Last Initial + Referral Code

Then in Google Analytics, you’ll see the parameters included in the "source" for each ambassador's referral link. For example the first link below is from Abigail Wood:

Viewing Data in Google Analytics

In Google Analytics 4, navigate to Reports -> Acquisition -> Traffic Acquisition.

You'll most likely need to filter down the results first. Assuming your referral links use a utm_campaign value of "bc" (the default), then click the "Add filter" button:

And configure the filter as shown below:

You will then be able to view analytics for all links with the “bc” campaign. Assuming your referral links use a value in the utm_source field to identify each BrandChamp, then select "Session source" in the dropdown filter above the table to show those results:
